In Sept 2011, I was invited by Marshall Cavendish Education Malaysia to give an hour talk in a Professional Development (PD) session in Kelantan, a north-eastern state of Malaysia.
The attendance and response were very overwhelming. There were over 100 teachers from 120 secondary schools in Kelantan who attended the PD session. I delivered a seminar entitled "Integrating Technology in Science Education- The Way Forward".
There were many senior science teachers who were very keen on the idea of accessing information and delivering contents to students using online portals or portable devices such as iPad and tablets. Some teachers are already setting up their own blogs and providing free learning resources to their students through their blogs.
At the end of the session, a teacher came up to me and thanked me for the talk. She also added that ".... hopefully we are not going to wait for too long for our children use iPads in the classroom nationwide... We need a major transformation in our education system!".
The PD had created a valuable opportunity for me to network with teachers and hear their new ideas about teaching pedagogy. They also gave me plenty of feedback about my Science books and how I could improve them further. So, a big thank you to those teachers!
